It is important to put a lot of thought into the colours you choose to use as different colours have different meanings. For example, red could mean passion, danger or determination whereas white provokes feelings of cleanliness or innocence.
As my website addresses materialism, it would be good to use green as my primary colour as this colour is usually used to represent money and stability.

My main target audience would be mothers, though I aim to appeal to both genders. Therefore, it would be best to use gender neutral colours. Green is not a feminine colour and so by using a green tint, it would increase the femininity of the appearance.
